Lyra was in Dottle City buying things. It was one of the best trading stations between her own clan and Maisigh because it was right in the middle of them. So far she'd picked up some leather as well as a few things to eat that you could only get in Maisigh.
Ah, she loved shopping. She was going to hit the clothing stores next. Most people way over priced things that were being sold to other clans, but now that she was the leader she actually had money to spend. There were some perks after all.

Aloysius was in Dottle City too, of course, and like Lyra he was also there buying things. But unlike Lyra he wasn't shopping for himself. He was there to find something pretty to buy for Aimee to surprise her with. He knew of a booth in the market area that sold jewelry, and decided to stop by to see what there was to choose from.
There was a lot to choose from. Necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, silver, gold, white gold, diamonds, opals, emeralds, and every other type of expensive jewelry one could possibly imagine. Geez, he didn't even know where to start. He looked around absent-mindedly, trying to find a way to decide, when he happened to spot a familiar face in the crowd. It was that new leader of Solesper, Lyra.
He smiled. "Lyra!" he called, waving her over. It was odd seeing her all relaxed and comfortable instead of terrified like she had been during that one meeting.

As she was walking down the road, making her way through the crowd (her dragon was flying quite highly above her--orbit didn't like crowds) she heard a voice call out to her. She turned towards the voice and saw Aloysius, the leader of Maisigh, waving over at her.
Lyra paused for a moment and waved back. He'd been nice enough, so Lyra tried to remind herself that he wasn't going to scream at her like Augustinas had done. Smiling, she walked over to him, trying to keep her head up with an air of confidence.
"Hey," she said with a friendly tone as she finally worked her way through the crowd and over to the little jewelry shop he was standing by.

"Hello, how are you?" Aloysius replied amiably. He noticed that Lyra seemd a lot more relaxed now that there wasn't a scary old man yelling at her for no reason. That was good. He would hate to think that the leader of an entire clan was scared of everything always. That wouldn't make her a very good leader at all. But she seemed okay now.
"Hey, could you do me a favor? I need a woman's opinion," he told her, gesturing towards the display of jewelry. "Which of these would you like the best?"

"Very good," she answered with a smile. "How about you, Aloysius?" she asked. He looked happy, probably a lot happier now that they weren't in the room with that stiff old man.
When he asked her her opinion about the jewelry, Lyra walked over to take a look. "Ooh, they're all very nice," she said, looking down. He was looking at the real expensive stuff, which made sense because his salary was probably as big as hers. "Someone special you're shopping for?" she asked, looking up with a smile.
She returned her gaze to the table and instantly noticed a really pretty sapphire necklace. It was enlaced in what looked like white gold, and it was so clean it sparkled. "This is beautiful," she said, pointing to it. Unless his girlfriend/whatever was crazy, she'd love it.

"No, it's for me," Aloysius replied with a straight face. Then he smiled. "Kidding, obviously. It's for my fiancee. It's her reward for being able to put up with me."
He looked at the white gold sapphire necklace she pointed out. "You think so?" he asked, picking it up by the chain. He looked at the little price tag or whatever indicated its value. "Ooh, expensive. That means it's high quality. I'll take it," he told the jeweler. After he traded whatever for it, he turned back to Lyra. "Thanks. I'm kinda lost when it comes to this stuff."

Lyra smiled. "No problem," she said, waving her hand in dismissal. "Us girls have a knack for this stuff. Really though, most of these things are gorgeous, it would have been hard to go wrong," she told him truthfully.
"So, is that the only reason you're out here?" she asked him, returning her gaze from the pretty jewels back to him. "Or do you have more shopping to do?"

"This is what I came for, but I might stick around," Aloysius replied with a shrug. Aimee was out feeding the homeless or something and he'd gotten all his leaderly work done for the day. He had nothing better to do.
They both slowly started walking down the road, as it seemed Lyra still had a bit of shopping to do. "So how's life?" he asked conversationally. "Handling the stresses of being clan leader okay?" Better than she had been at that meeting, he hoped.

"Haha, I'd like to think so," she answered as they walked down the street. "I mean, it's all still really new to me, and well, I've never been the most outgoing person, so that's a little rough, but I think I'm catching on."
She still didn't think she had been the right choice for leader, but she was trying her hardest to make her clan and family proud of her. The first meeting had been scary, but Lyra figured if she had to go to another one she could be a little more relaxed. It had just been nerve-wracking was all.

"Hey, if it makes you feel better, you're a lot easier to get along with than the one before you," Aloysius replied honestly. Then he remembered that the leader before Lyra had been her great-grandpa or something. Oops. "I mean, you know, it was rough for me to be new when the other two leaders had already been doing it for like a hundred years. But I got the hang of it pretty quick, I'm sure you will too. You don't have to be so worried about little meetings like the one we had."

"Haha," Lyra said with a smile. "I sure hope so, I dunno, it's just like... If I had been the one handing over the position, I never would have given it to me in a million years. I'm just lot leader material. I mean, I don't see it as a bad thing, some people were born to lead, and others, like me weren't. Not saying I'm a follower or anything, just not a strong leader."
She still couldn't understand why her grandfather had chosen her over her other cousins or siblings, or anyone else for that matter.

"Maybe he chose you for your confidence," Aloysius replied in a playfully sarcastic way. Seriously, he added, "Come on, don't be so hard on yourself. He must've seen something in you that made him think you'd be a good leader. I mean, did you ever ask why he picked you?"
