About a month and a half ago, Rin had woken up on her sixteenth birthday, rushed to the nearest mirror, and had been ecstatic to see her bright red eyes staring back at her. While some people might have been scared to embark on their life threatening journey to find their dragon egg, she had felt nothing but excitement at the thought.
Her confidence paid off. Having been preparing for the moment for most of her life, Rin's mission had gone relatively smoothly, at least compared to some others. After all, she had escaped with her egg, her life, and no horrible injuries. She was a bit scratched up, and her left arm was bandaged up due to a nasty burn, but otherwise she was more or less intact.
And her egg...it could be hatching any time now. Rin couldn't wait. She already felt more attatched to that egg than she had to any people in years. She could only imagine how close they'd be when it hatched.
She had been traveling all day, and decided to take a break when she reached Sugarcreek River. She was close, very close to home now. Another week, maybe even less, and she would be back in Solesper, a true dragon rider. Smiling at the thought, she set down her pack of supplies, but kept the bag that contained her egg around on. It was irrational, but she didn't want anything to happen to it when she wasn't paying attention.
She sat down tiredly near the water's edge, letting the egg lay in her lap.

Will was feeling rather bored today, so he figured he could use some air. And by air, he meant dragon riding. It was a bit chilly today, so he dressed in a thin coat and wrapped a scarf around his neck.
He left his home, and found Sparrow, who was lounging in his back yard. "Come on Sparrow," he said. "We're gonna go flying." The dragon nodded, and lowered herself so that her dragon rider could climb on. William hopped onto her back, and they instantly took off into the air.
Will was going to let Sparrow decided where to go today, and kept his mouth shut for once, just holding on tightly, sniffling from the cold air ever so often, and watching the ground below them.
After a while, when they were above the Sugarcreek River, Sparrow decided that she wanted to stop here, and landed gracefully at the water's edge. "Nice choice," Will said with a nod. "I haven't been here in a while."
He hopped off of Sparrow's back, and started to walk around with his hands in his pockets. Sparrow folded up her wings, and followed along, enjoying the cold air against her scaly skin. As they went on, William noticed a person sitting near the water, and as they got closer, he realized it was a girl, a pretty girl, with an egg in her lap!
"Hey!" he called, while waving. "Nice egg!"

Rin jumped up and spun around when she heard a voice. She held the egg, which was peaking out of her bag, tightly, looking surprised. She calmed down immediately when she saw it was just another dragon rider. She sighed and sat back down. The weight of the egg had her feeling sore all over.
"You startled me," she told the guy tiredly. He had an adult blue dragon standing docily behind him. Oh, she couldn't wait for her dragon to hatch...

Will couldn't help but smirk. "Sorry!" He called, "Didn't mean to scare you!" He kept walking, until soon they were close enough that if he reached out he could touch her. He wasn't about to touch her though. "Looks like you just got back from a long journey eh?"

"Haven't got back yet," Rin replied flatly, turning away from the guy and his annoyingly smug face. She didn't like that smirk he was wearing. She looked down at her egg and gently ran her fingers over the smooth, shiny surface. Any day now, she kept saying over and over again in her head. Any day now...
She glanced up. The guy was still there, looking at her. "Do you need something?" she asked with a hint of coolness in her voice.

"But at least your not in the mountains anymore," Will replied. "And no, I don't need anything, but for some reason I feel like standing here and talking to you." He looked at the girls arm, and noticed the bandage. "Did you get burnt?" He asked. "I got burnt too, on my entire back."

"Huh," Rin replied, not even pretending to be interested. Not unlike a certain other new Solesper person, she didn't particularly enjoy company. And she honestly didn't care in the slightest where this guy was burned. She didn't even know him. She didn't really want to know him. But she figured if he was going to 'stand here and talk to her,' she might as well know his name. "Who are you, anyways?"

"I'm William," he replied. "But you can call me Will." This chick, seemed to be a bit anti social. Will suddenly got the urge to break that anit socialness, and since she was in Solespar, he'd get to bother her plenty of times. "What's your name?"

"Marinda," Rin replied offhandedly. "You can call me that. Or Rin. I don't really care." She gave a small shrug to show just how little she cared. He could call her Beezus if he wanted and she probably wouldn't care. There was something about this guy she didn't like. It was like he just gave off this air of being annoying.

"That's a nice name," Will replied. "I'll probably call you Rin." He decided to take a seat, even though he could tell that she didn't want him here. It amused him, so he wanted to stay. "So," he said conversationaly. "Have you thought of what you're going to name your dragon?" Will had when he had his egg, and he decided that whether Sparrow had turned out to be a male or female, he'd name her Sparrow no matter what.

Rin made an expression of disgust when Will sat by her, making sure he saw it even though she knew he wouldn't care. She turned away from him and looked down at her egg, her expression softening. "Neon," she replied quietly. "Her name is Neon." Not unlike a mother who swore she knew the gender of her baby before it was born, Rin was absolutely positive Neon would be a girl. She could just tell.

"Good choice," Will replied while nodding. He had a smirk on his face, at the fact that Rin had given him a dirty look. This was funny, why did he irritate her so much? Sparrow, new what her dragon rider was doing, and with a shake of her head and a roll of her eyes, she spread out her wings and took flight. But she would stay close, so that she could keep an eye on Will.

"Yeah. Well. It's been great talking to you, Will," Rin replied emotionlessly, getting to her feet. If this guy wasn't gonna leave, then she was. She didn't care how tired she was, carrying around a heavy dragon egg for long distances wasn't as bad as having a smug boy talk to her patronizingly like he was. "Buuuuut I gotta get going. I wanna make it back to Solesper ASAP." She started walking away from him.

"Wait," Will said while standing. "Don't leave!" He was feeling disapointed, it was fun bothering this girl. From up above, Sparrow could see that Will was on the move, so she started to fly along with him.
