Flannery felt like she was being a bad friend. It had been like over a week since her best friend Aimee's fiance had gone missing, and she hadn't gone once to see how she was doing! Ugh, what was the matter with her? Her best friend needed love and support, dammit! So it was about time Flannery went to see her.
She arrived at Aimee's house early in the afternoon, unannounced as usual, and knocked on the door. Aimee would probably be all sad and stuff, so Flannery was gonna make it her mission to cheer her up, at least as much as possible considering the circumstances.
She waited for about two seconds before getting impatient and knocking again. She hoped Aimee was even home.

Aimee had been in the kitchen, cleaning up after she had finished eating her lunch, when there was a knock at the door. Her heart skipped a beat, hoping that maybe it was Aloysius, then it sank when she realized that he wouldn't be knocking on the door of his own house.
The knocker knocked again and she realized who it probably was. Her best childhood friend Flannery. She shook her head but smiled, glad that she was over. She went to the front door and answered it.
Her guess was right. "Flannery!" she said with a small smile, "I'm glad you're here."

"Aimeeee!" Flannery exclaimed, grabbing Aimee and pulling her into a hug. "I'm so sorry I didn't come visit you sooner! How are you doing?" She led Aimee back inside as if Aimee needed someone to lead her back into her own house and the two automatically went and sat down on the couch in the living room for some talk time.

"I'm doing as okay as one would guess I am," Aimee replied. "But like I just said, I'm glad you're here." They walked together to the living room, and Aimee sat with her. "I miss him so much Flannery," she said with a sad sigh. "And I'm so worried."

"Oh, honey, we all are," Flannery told her sympathetically, putting an arm around her for comfort. And by "we all" she meant the people of Maisigh. "But he'll be found soon, I'm sure of it. Pretty soon this'll all just be a bad memory." She offered Aimee a small smile. She hoped she was right. Aimee was such a good person, and didn't deserve anything bad to happen in her life.

Aimee nodded, and leaned her head on her best friends shoulder. "You're right," she replied. "I know he'll be home...I just know he's alive." She sighed, "I just hope he's safe and not getting harmed."

Flannery didn't respond right away. She wasn't sure how to. Realistically, when someone goes missing for several days, chances are pretty high that they'rve been harmed in some way. The only way someone would disappear without having been harmed is if they had left on their own. Flannery wasn't sure which would be worse for Aimee.
"Well...I'm sure wherever he is, he's thinking about you," Flannery said finally, mentally cringing at how cliche that sounded, knowing full well Aimee had probably already heard that a hundred times. Maybe it was time for a subject change. "You know what you need, honey? A nice distraction. Let's go out for drinks tonight." (She doesn't know Aimee's pregnant.)
